"I always combined entrepreneurship with coding and development from a young age, starting with server hosting projects and software experiments that eventually pushed me toward building broader technical systems," Shick says.

That technical foundation became a turning point in 2019, when Shick decided to launch his own business formally. The company, Vierra, operates as a business-to-business marketing and lead generation firm focused on helping small and medium-sized businesses evaluate and improve their digital outreach systems. According to Shick, Vierra's work centers on assessing client funnels, identifying operational improvements, and supporting outreach strategies that connect businesses with potential customers.

Rather than positioning the company around a single niche problem, he emphasizes the broad relevance of marketing. "Almost every business needs marketing and outreach in some form," he says. "The goal was to create systems that reduce stress for business owners and make growth more manageable."

Shick's background in software engineering continues to influence how Vierra operates. He notes that automation has become a long-term focus, not as a replacement for people, but as a way to improve consistency and efficiency across processes. "I wanted to build something that could eventually be fully automated, with internal systems that support training, streamline outreach workflows, and create more efficient day-to-day operations," he says. From his perspective, this emphasis on infrastructure allows the company to scale gradually while maintaining stability.

While technology plays a role, Shick places equal importance on team culture. Vierra operates with multiple internal divisions, including development, design, and outreach, supported by interns and team leads. According to him, team selection often begins long before formal roles are offered. "I usually know someone for about a year before bringing them onto the team," Shick says. "It helps ensure values align and that everyone is working toward the same mission."

This emphasis on alignment extends beyond daily tasks. Shick considers leadership as an ongoing responsibility to support professional growth. According to him, team members are encouraged to define long-term goals early in their time with the company, which helps guide internal development opportunities. "If we support someone's learning and growth, they build skills that stay with them long after a project ends," he says.

Shick's leadership philosophy also reflects his own experience as a self-taught entrepreneur. "I learned everything on my own and worked through challenges step by step," he says. "That experience shaped how I approach both business decisions and mentorship."

From a client perspective, Shick explains that Vierra's role often begins with understanding operational goals rather than applying standardized solutions. By reviewing current systems and outreach strategies, the company works to identify practical adjustments that support lead generation and conversion processes. According to him, this consultative approach helps business owners focus on growth while maintaining clarity around expectations. "Our job is to help businesses understand what's working, what can improve, and how to move forward with less friction," he notes.

Looking ahead, Shick explains the next several years as a period of structured expansion. Plans include growing sales teams across multiple regions and continuing to refine internal automation systems. However, he remains focused on sustainability rather than rapid scale. "The goal is to build something stable and automated over time," he says. "If the foundation is strong, growth becomes more manageable."

For Shick, entrepreneurship remains closely tied to personal discipline and long-term vision. He views his work as an ongoing process rather than a finished product. "Building skills is not about having the perfect starting point, it's about showing up consistently and doing the work," he says. "That's the mindset I try to pass on, especially to other entrepreneurs who are just beginning their journey."
